I paid for five of these, stress-tested whether characters hold, and labeled the card platforms researched until my card reaches them.

One rule decides the order: tested beats researched, never the reverse. 🎭 is whether the character and scene hold up, 🧠 is memory, 🧊 is filter trips, fewer is freer.

Research-stage ratings stay dimmed and capped until a self-funded test. A tracked product link appears only where an affiliate partnership exists.
The community's complaint list writes the criteria for me: bots that "break character within minutes," turn "into a customer service bot the moment things get interesting," or "start talking like a FAQ bot." So the ranking axis is whether the roleplay holds: does the character keep her own agenda under pressure, does the story survive the session, and does a filter cut the scene. My tested rows carry measured answers: a character who held a grudge across days, scene commands that actually steer, zero filter trips across my explicit tests, and each app's memory labeled honestly as benchmarked or not.
The durability question, "still solid weeks in," is the one nobody on this page's SERP answers. Where I have long-term evidence it is in the ratings; where I only have week-one evidence, the note says the benchmark is still running instead of pretending.

My stress test was Gemma, a bratty roommate with her own agenda: I annoyed her early and she stayed annoyed, across days, until I actually earned my way back. Two registers in one app: Texting Mode reads like someone is actually online, and DesireXXX shifts the same character into long-form erotic prose. It followed direct NSFW roleplay without balking in my test, on the cheapest plan I paid for, with the steadiest character face of all my image tests as a bonus.

The community's current mood is the caution: users describe it "getting so censored and weird" as it conforms to app-store rules, which is why my SpicyChat alternatives page exists. "Uncensored" on a landing page and uncensored under a real explicit scene are different claims, so this site measures filter trips, the 🧊 column above. In my self-funded tests, Candy AI, OurDream AI, Secret Desires AI, and Lovescape AI all ran explicit roleplay with zero refusals; Swipey's refusals are its progression design rather than a content filter. On the researched side, JanitorAI and CrushOn AI are permissive by policy and community report. The full category ranking lives at best NSFW AI chat.
The rest of page one is worth naming for what it is. One ranking is published by an app vendor that scores its own product 4.9 out of 5 and links to none of the competitors it ranks. Another buries its advertising disclosure inside a CSS style rule where no reader will ever render it. The reddit thread at position one carries template-identical promotional replies for apps with no verifiable footprint. Apps like Anima, Questie, and Privee appear across those lists without a single published test; they are absent here because I rank only what I have measured or thoroughly researched, and my Arena is the waiting room.
